Well, I just received yet more forged subscription spams via eagle.ais.net,
this time from (so far):
eidos <eidos@winternet.com>
vrebello <vrebello@aol.com>
gitm <gitm@netcom.com>
I'm tired of this game, so I've implemented a quick fix, which should be
useful by those others of you that are using Majordomo. First, get the
file:
ftp://ftp.greatcircle.com/pub/list-managers/filter.shar
That file contains a short perl script called "filter". You use "filter"
by installing it in your Majordomo program directory (same directory as
contains the "majordomo" and "resend" scripts), making it executable, and
then changing your /etc/aliases entries as follows. First, rename your
original "majordomo" alias to "majordomo-real" (i.e., change the line that
starts "majordomo:" to start "majordomo-real:"). Then, add a new
definition for "majordomo:" like this:
majordomo: "|/usr/local/mail/majordomo/wrapper filter
-f slime@scum.earth.net -f fool@happy.com
-r eagle.ais.net
-p majordomo-owner majordomo-real"
This will cause any message containing "slime@scum.earth.net" or
"fool@happy.com" in the "From:" line, or "eagle.ais.net" in any "Received:"
line, to be punted to the address "majordomo-owner"; all other messages
will be forwarded on to "majordomo-real" (which is your real Majordomo
processing alias). You should be able to specify any number of "-f", "-r",
or "-p" arguments.
